The Son that was Sent Away

The quarterback I am referring too as the “Son that was Sent Away”, is Jimmy Garoppolo. Jimmy Garoppolo is currently the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers and is also the quarterback that lost to Patrick Mahomes in the latest Superbowl. This was his first full season as a starting quarterback with the 49ers, and he finished the season with 13 wins and three loses. Jimmy passed the ball for 3978 passing yards, had a 69.1 completion percentage, threw for 27 touchdowns, and had only 13 interceptions (the fewer the better). I would say this is a pretty solid season for a starting quarterback, the numbers aren’t high and flashy, but for the most part he got the job done. However, it could be said that Jimmy was one of the reasons the 49ers lost the Superbowl this year. This is due to him overthrowing the football to his reliever who was basically open, and if this football was thrown good enough for the receiver to catch, then it would have been a touchdown. This would have put the 49ers ahead with less than more time on the clock for the chiefs to comeback. Before this season, Jimmy started his career as the back up to the so called greatest of all-time quarterback to have ever played the game of Football, which is Tom Brady, and while being the backup, he also had arguably the best coach ever in the National Football League. That coach is Bill Belichick, he drafted Jimmy Garoppolo in the second round of the two 2014 NFL draft with the 62nd overall pick, coming from East Illinois. With these two men, he would have that back up role for the New England Patriots for a couple of years, during those couple of years he got two Superbowl rings for sitting on the bench basically. To be fair, Jimmy must have learned a lot of the skills, fundamentals, and better football knowledge while being under these two men for his position. But, then Jimmy G would get traded to the San Francisco 49ers midseason out of nowhere, Jimmy G would go on to start the rest of the season for them, would finish that season undefeated as the starting quarterback, but next season unfortunately he would sustain an injury by tearing his ACL which would make him miss the rest of the season. Well, the reason I nicknamed Jimmy G the son that was sent away, is because it has been discussed that Bill Belichick wanted Jimmy G to replace Tom Brady as the Patriots starting Quarterback, but as I said out of nowhere Jimmy G got traded. It can be implied that Tom Brady did some tampering or suggesting with the owner that Jimmy G should get traded to another team or Tom Brady leaves. But, when Jimmy G first got traded, Bill Belichick had nothing but nice words to say about the quarterback and showing a bit of sadness towards how he just lost his quarterback. This is big, because Bill Belichick is known to be a coach to never really show emotion or really complement his players, but he broke that when talking about the sudden departure of his future quarterback. This issue will always make Jimmy G compared to Tom Brady for the rest of his career, which in all honesty is fine, because they both have similar play styles, have great coaches coaching their team, and so far, has had a more then reliable Defense to support them. Well, in my opinion I hope Jimmy G goes on to have a successful career, hope he gets redemption for his recent Superbowl loss, and I especially hope he can somehow have a more successful career than Tom Brady due to my personal feelings towards him.
