My First Blog Post

Quarterback Introduction Post

Now my blog posts will be about the most glorified position in the National Football League, which is the Quarterback. The reason I choose this sole position in such a team-based game is because it is seen as the most important position in football by fans, people that cover sports in the media, by the teams in the NFL, and by the NFL itself. Now I will say that the quarterback position is one of the most important positions in football since the quarterback must lead the offense down the field in order to get a touchdown. The quarterback does this by getting plays from the coach, gathering his teammates up on the field, telling them the play, make sure every player is set in their correct spot on the field, having to read the defense, adjust the play based on that read, make sure his teammates understand that adjustment, and ultimately hike the ball to start the play. Now that was just before the play even starts, during the play the QB has to not get tackled with the ball for starters, has to pass the ball down the field to his receivers who are guarded by the defense usually that consist of 11 players with four to five receivers for the quarterback to throw too, or the QB could just run the ball himself with the risk of injuring himself once he finally gets tackled. The quarterbacks usually don’t get tackled since they are usually guarded by their lineman on their side of the ball, so this usually means quarterbacks are more fragile than the other players who usually do get tackled on plays. To sum it all up, the quarterback is one of the key players to getting the team points, and to quote one of the greatest coaches and commentators of all time John Madden “whoever scores the most points wins the game…”.

Now I have been watching football since I was about 6 or 7 years old, I have seen different quarterbacks in my time of watching football, and I am going to be talking about the quarterbacks that have stuck with me through these years and the ones with interesting stories I believe are fun to talk about. My titles I have for the ten different quarterbacks are nicknames either I thought of and gave them or their actually nicknames they earned that people in the NFL gave them, however most are my nicknames. Now I will be providing each of the quarterback’s stats in the NFL, career accomplishments, how much they are getting paid, their backstories, the college they attended, what draft pick they were, their storylines or situations in the NFL, their possible futures in the NFL, and most importantly my opinion on them. I will express whether I love them, respect them, think they shouldn’t be playing in the NFL, or even if I despise them for various reasons. Of course, I will do my best to try to provide reasoning to my opinions, no matter how extreme my take on the quarterback will be. However, now that the 2019-2020 season has just been completed and a new Superbowl champion has just been crowned, there is plenty of speculation and stories to talk about especially since a lot of QBs are getting into free agency, meaning they could be taking their talents to another team.
